What’s new in Axomek 0.2.3
Released
Changes in detail
Results that change when a saved project is solved again:
- No calculation results change. The optimiser could, in rare cases, report another design's results when its variables were listed out of order; it now matches designs by parameter.
- Worm pairs in 3D show the worm as a real screw thread and the wheel cut by it, with its throated rim; bevel pairs show teeth on the cone at their true depth, tapering to the apex, curved for spiral bevels, on solid blanks.
- The Hertzian contact view draws the contact patch and the stress slice at true size and exaggerates only the deformation, by an amount it picks itself; the exaggeration slider is gone.
- Bearing results say what drives life (film, κ, contamination, preload) from the engine, so
axm solve, its--json(lifeDrivers) and the assistant see the same notes as the app. - A new account menu: who you are and how long the app works offline, then settings, help and feedback; deleting the account moved to Settings › Account.
- The browser page after signing in has the app's look and says where to go back to; the desktop app comes to the front once signed in.
axm templateslists the templates in groups, wrapped to the terminal.- The help moved to axomek.com/guides; the old help addresses redirect.
- Legal pages name the operator and follow the GDPR, with an imprint; support is at support@axomek.com.
- Project files are safe across versions. Saved files record which Axomek wrote them (
"writtenBy": "Axomek 0.2.3"). Files from older versions open as before and are upgraded in memory only; the first save over one keeps the original next to it as<file>.bak(desktop app andaxm; the web app and cloud projects say once that the file is now in the current format). A file saved by a newer Axomek with data this version does not know opens read-only instead of losing that data: it is shown and solved, a bar names the version that saved it and offers the update, and editing, undo and saving are off.axmreads such files with awarningsentry in--jsonoutput and refuses to save them (errornewerFile; the file is left untouched;--force-copy <new file>saves an edit elsewhere, without that data). - Privacy choices belong to the person who made them: when another account signs in, feature statistics and usability replays switch off and the app asks again. Signed-in users are asked once more after updating, as earlier choices did not record whose they were.
- Safer saving and editing: a file that fails to open no longer takes over the save target or the cloud link of the project that stays open; an assistant reply, a file import or a STEP mesh that finishes after another project was opened leaves that project alone; Reset in Settings stays reset in the cloud; a report that fails to print keeps the old PDF; arrow keys move the focus along the shaft tabs.
- The console changes only the account its confirmation names; nothing is kept for an account once its deletion has started; access keys and offline licences stay within their limits under simultaneous requests; daily assistant counts are deleted after 13 months.
- Fixes: imperial text no longer fails on an unfinished bracket, a usability replay ends when the account changes, the assistant and access keys refuse disabled accounts, the admin search no longer skips accounts, and feedback (with its screenshot) is kept at most 12 months.
